In the beginning…

I remember a time when cloud based storage did not exist. Those were the dark times. Then came a revolutionary service known as Dropbox. I signed up just to see what all the fuss was about, within a week I was hooked.  Since then, cloud based storage has been a great asset to us here at TnR PC Specialists. We have been big fans of this technology for quite some time so when we heard the news that Google will be offering an additional 2gb to it’s already gracious 15gb storage capacity, we had to talk about it. See for yourself on the Google Drive Blog.

How old is your hard drive?

Whether or not you know the answer to that question, it could be irrelevant, the fact of the matter is that hard drives fail. Period. You want to make sure that your files are backed up.  With the growth of the mobile universe many apps, and by extensions their providers, are offering cloud based backups of your photos. So what about your desktop or laptop? There are solutions for that, namely, Dropbox and Google Drive.  They both offer different amounts of startup storage for free, Google Drive offers 15gb(to be shared across their many apps) while Dropbox offers a meager 2gb(they offer options for expanding that amount by referrals and “achievements” so-to-speak).

What do they want from you in exchange?

Nothing more than a security checkup. So enjoy!
